Halal-20 Summit 2026: Taiwan Delegates Expand Networks and Technical Expertise as Jakarta Event Draws 48 Nations

JAKARTA, INDONESIA — The 5th Halal-20 (H20) Summit in Jakarta saw high international engagement this week, bringing together 450 delegates from 48 countries to discuss the future of the global halal ecosystem. Organised by Indonesia's Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), the main conference ran from 18 to 20 September 2026, serving as a critical platform ahead of the implementation of Indonesia's mandatory halal regulations.

Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of BPJPH, emphasised that this extensive international involvement is vital for advancing Indonesia's vision in the halal sector, noting that expanding this network brings broader benefits to both domestic and global communities.

"This event was made possible through everyone's cooperation," Haikal stated. "It was also realised due to the enthusiasm of the 48 participating countries and 450 invited guests, alongside the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, ministers, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, ambassadors of friendly nations, and all parties who made this event a growing success."

Representing Taiwan, the Taiwan Halal Integrity Development Association (THIDA), an officially invited Halal Certification Body (HCB), actively participated in the summit with a primary focus on capacity building and strengthening networks with other global halal authorities. To maximise their coverage of the event, the THIDA delegation strategically divided their attendance.

Delegate Andi Syahrullah attended the intensive training sessions on risk management, which were held by BPJPH prior to the main summit on 16 and 17 September. This comprehensive technical training spanned an intensive 16 hours, equipping participants with vital, on-the-ground insights necessary for navigating the upcoming regulatory shifts.

Meanwhile, delegates Nabeel and Ibrahim participated in the main three-day H20 conference. During this period, the delegation immersed themselves in high-level dialogues about the strengthening of the global halal economy.

A key highlight of THIDA's participation was their targeted engagements with Indonesian halal authorities. The delegation held an essential technical discussion with Mr. Pingkan, a representative from BPJPH. The dialogue centred on practical issues related to witness audits, addressing operational challenges and procedures to ensure the continuous integrity halal certification.

Furthermore, the delegation's diplomatic and networking efforts were underscored by a high-level meeting with the Head of BPJPH, Ahmad Haikal Hasan. This engagement provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives and solidify cooperative ties with other HCBs, reinforcing Taiwan's commitment to aligning with the rapidly evolving global halal market.
