Global Halal Summit 2026: Taiwan Delegates Join High-Level Gathering as Global Halal Market Surges

PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA — High enthusiasm marked the opening of the Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2026, where international delegates gathered at the Le Méridien Hotel in Putrajaya from 22 to 24 September 2026. Organized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), the summit brought together representatives from 98 Foreign Halal Certification Bodies (FHCBs) spanning over 40 countries across six continents.

Held under the overarching theme "Shariah and Integrity: Empowering The Global Halal Ecosystem", the summit focused on standard certification procedures, fostering cross-border trade, and elevating integrity within global supply chains. The initiative comes at a pivotal moment for the industry; according to recent market research by Frost & Sullivan, the global halal economy is projected to reach between $7.36 trillion and $10 trillion by 2030, driven by rapidly growing consumer demand across halal food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and tourism sectors.

Representing Taiwan, the Taiwan Halal Integrity Development Association (THIDA), an officially recognized Foreign Halal Certification Body, sent a two-member delegation consisting of Jia Ming (Ibrahim) and Chang Liang (Nabeel).

As part of the official summit agenda, Ibrahim actively participated in the 5th International Halal Technical Capacity Development Programme (IHTCDP). Held on 22 and 23 September, the intensive training sessions covered crucial technical parameters, including halal standards for food and beverages, ingredient adulteration issues, pharmaceuticals, and logistics assurance frameworks. Meanwhile, the delegation also attended key sessions of the 16th Halal Certification Bodies Convention (HCBC) to discuss global regulatory alignments and digital certification (e-Cert) platforms.

Summit organisers highlighted that stronger technical collaboration among global halal certification bodies is essential to bridging supply-demand gaps and maintaining consumer trust in an expanding global market.

The event concludes with a grand opening ceremony on 25 September at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, featuring a keynote address by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
